Fiber Gourmet Review and Giveaway 8/28 (closed)

I don’t know how many of you know what the daily suggested amount of fiber intake you should have, but I can almost bet that most of you aren’t close. The USDA has a page devoted to Fiber Education:

Nutrition and health experts agree that dietary fiber is
important to the maintenance of health and that consumption
of dietary and certain functional fibers improves fecal bulk
and laxation. In addition, fiber is reported in the scientific
literature to provide many other health benefits, including
decreased risk of some types of cancer, obesity, cardiovascular
disease, and diabetes. According to the Institute of Medicine
(IOM) (2002), dietary reference intake (DRI), an adequate
intake for total fiber, is set at 38 and 25 gram (g) per day for
young men (age 14-50 years) and women (age 19-50 years),
respectively.

I took many courses in college focusing on health education. But a few years ago my husband’s life was turned upside down. After many years of suffering and ER visits, he was diagnosed with Acute Diverticulitis, very strange for his age. For us, this answered a lot of family questions. Now I know to push the fiber to keep my husband and children out of pain and suffering from the food they eat.

That is why I am so excited to share this review with you because it is full of fiber without tasting like it! I had seen a review on Fiber Gourmet’s Pasta and was excited because it is so hard to find pasta with a great nutrition rundown. Who wouldn’t love flavored pasta like chocolate. I contacted the company and was lucky enough to review their brand new line of crackers.

I stopped and grabbed the mail on our drive into town knowing that I had not fed anyone in the car. When I opened the box there were 5 packages of crackers 3 original and 2 nacho. Perfect! 4 different bodies to try them out. I even had a few friends try them in town. The best part is no one asked to eat out, no one cried while we shopped, no one whined all the way back home.

I love these crackers! Original is my favorite. These crackers are crunchy, filling, and not greasy. They are so much better than any store or name brand cheese cracker I have tried. I don’t feel guilty telling my kids to eat them. I could barely finish the snack size bag because they are so filling. My husband is partial to the nacho flavored crackers. He has put himself on a diet without any fun things, but I caught him finishing the last bag of crackers…His reply, “These are really good and very filling.”

Each bag has this neat Snack Comparison and Weight Watchers info. They also have more lab results posted on their site

How did Fiber Gourmet get it’s start?
Our parent company, Food Industry Technology (FIT) produces specialty ingredients to serve the ever-changing needs of the food industry. In 1987, we developed and patented the first high-bloom kosher fish gelatin as a replacement for standard gelatin. Today we are the largest supplier of kosher gelatin in North America, as well as a major supplier of non-kosher specialty gelatins.

How long has this division been in the works?
Now, after years of research and thousands of experiments, we are pleased to begin offering our patent-pending FiberGourmet line of reduced-calorie, high-fiber foods.
