Spider Saturday

If only had gotten up before my husband I could show you our 2 acre jungle, but he finally mowed today. (this pic is a few weeks old..they were worse..the UPS guy couldn’t even get to the door) Our yard looks completely different now, except the huge mound of dirt that was left behind when our Contractor made the Sub-Contractor mad and he never came back 2 yrs ago, that is still a jungle.

My husband mowed over a few huge black widows (like I feel comfortable letting the kids outside now) and some huge aggressive blue legged spider he had never seen before. But he saved one for me to look at. So I have decided to share him with you.

Are you having trouble seeing her? She is yellow and brown on the back and this odd color on the front…I zoomed in on her and flipped the camera upside down with my hand between the weeds and her to get this (her partner is just on the other side of my hand he was small so I was hurrying and I think she is ready to lay an egg sack).

Since I was taking these pictures through the weeds by myself…this last picture was kind of hard to take. But I thought you needed to see how big she really is.

Should I be worried about this spider? Not really…it could bite me, but it is just a Banded Garden Spider (Argiope Trifasciata) common all over the world except Europe…So she may have a friend in your yard too! I am no spider expert…I had to look that up!
