Eating Natural Whole Foods & Working Out

This weekend I have really been trying to focus my attention on eating better…The reason being is that I have eaten terribly all week unless you count the bag of unreal candies I had last night, haha.

So I made a blackberry spinach salad for one today. It was delicious!

I really enjoy eating foods that haven’t been altered because I am not hungry after finishing them and I know there haven’t been other things added to them. I know I say this all the time, but my family can’t do corn because of allergies, but I often wonder if there is more to it than just that? What I mean is how would I know if there were other things involved like GMO? This is part of the reason that I have been trying to move more into the Paleo way of eating. If you are interested in learning more about companies that are being responsible and going non GMO check out Doug Foreman of Beanitos. It is an amazing company focusing on doing things right.

I listened to Mark Sisson speak this week about how our bodies are wired and how we have interrupted those signals with our processed food and changing of the genetic makeup of other foods. I also read an article about rice being genetically modified with human dna and that just seems gross. I understand that sometimes science is here to better our existence, but it would really help if we knew where those cards were placed. He also mentioned living life like we were cavemen. Okay so not really like that, but on a similar level. Move often, build muscle and work out hard. In other words get your 10,000 steps in, do Insanity and carry around my baby all day…I think I’ve got it!

That said, I want to recap my week:

  • Planned and carried out a successful toddler birthday party in 3hours
  • I lost 6 pounds in 3 days
  • My ring is so loose I might need to put it on a chain.
  • I ate really well, although not Paleo quite yet.
  • I did a full weeks worth of Insanity and lived to mention it.
  • I pulled together an 80′s costume for Brandcation that I’m excited for.
  • I started my first Beachbody challenge group with some great ladies.

I hope you all had great weeks too! Today I made my kids breakfast and unboxed all the packages that arrived this week. It’s always nice to have something to smile about.

What did you do today that made you smile?

  2. You’re salad looks heavenly!

It’s funny you mention eating whole foods. Since I started the Mamavation campaign I am reading labels like no one’s business and while my kids still get the occasional treat, like a rice krispie treat, I’m also making sure they have better snacks available like home made trail mix.

Great job on your 6lb loss in 3 days!
