I have to admit that I was still in elementary school when the 80′s ended, so I was never caught up in the fashion, music or anything 1980′s related. When I learned that Brandcation was going to be throwing an 80′s Party I was a little worried about what to
dress like. In all honesty I have a dress that I wore in the 80′s hanging on my garage door knob and it is something else, haha. My mom made all my clothes back then and Designing Women or Golden Girls comes to mind.
My husband tried to be helpful naming of characters he could remember from the 1980′s: Heman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, PeWee Herman, Ghostbusters…I already knew She-Ra was coming and I debated on coming as Catra the evil nemesis, but that wasn’t something I could easily pull out of my closet because I only had 3 weeks notice. I own a few 80′s inspired articles of clothing and I figured I could run with them. I just wasn’t feeling it. That’s when I ordered a red wig, pulled out my footless tights, my Heidi Clum Maternity top from last year, a belt and some red platforms…Peggy Bundy!
It was fun seeing everyone pull out their neon, tights and hair crimpers the night of the party. There were giggles and scampering all around the cabin as we piled in front of mirrors to get ready for the fun we were about to have.
The music began to play throughout the cabin and we all made our way to the main floor to Party Like It’s 1999 Thanks to Flashing Blinky Lights. It’s not a party until everything is neon and all lit up right?!

I unfortunately had to duck out of the party early to finish packing and shower because I was leaving at 3am, but I missed very little, just the food which was also sponsored by Flashing Blinky Lights. It smelled to die for though. Who wouldn’t love fresh baked pizza? That’s how my family did it back in the 80′s too. I was able to make it back down for the giveaways and swag once I was all ready.
I’m not sure how She-Ra didn’t make it into any of those photos…so here is the only picture I have.
